27 Sound is an Independent record label and music production company with an emphasis on quality production. No matter what the genre of music, or what artist we are working with, the sound comes first. Every effort is made to make our records sound unique and provocative.
Matt Stine (A.K.A “The Giant”, A.K.A “Jint”) founded the company in 2006 after several years working as an audio engineer, sound designer and musician in New York City. Matt continued to hone his skills during this period, recording and producing Hip Hop, Rock, Country and everything in-between. Influenced by the work of many of his favorite producers and artists including, DJ Premier, RZA, Pete Rock, Scratch Lee Perry, Rick Rubin, Dan the Automator, Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Robert Johnson among many many others, Matt began to sculpt a blend of all the sounds in his head. This laid the foundation for him to create a new style that he could call his own, and to create recordings with the quality of production that 27 Sound is known for.

“People always ask me what the significance of the number 27 is, and I guess it can only be answered in my music. I like to challenge myself to use as many layers as I can in a mix to give a song depth. But at the same time I try to retain a simplicity, a foundation. The number 27 is a multiple of nine, so its digits equal nine when added together. It’s three nines and nine is three threes. 27 might be the whole, but it’s a number with many layers that are all related in a unique way. It’s meaningful in kind of a symbolic way for me. Oh, and it’s always been one of my lucky numbers––especially at the roulette table!”
